It is important to keep everything balanced when going for regular workouts.
Variety is an important factor!
Protein...mix it up and take suitable amounts...white meat, red meat and fish.. needed to repair damaged muscle fibres and to grow new muscle.
Carbs...well you burn these when you work out...cut these out of your diet while you workout and you'll be like a car without fuel..take a variety and get enough of them!
Fats..you need these too and the good ones come from fish, veg and nuts.
Every cell membrane in your body is made of fat+other components. Fat is used when your carbs run out....so don't avoid these too much especially if your body type is the reluctant to put on muscle kind because when your body doesn't have enough fat it starts to break up your muscle for energy!! Not good!
Water...we are 80% water...and then we workout and don't drink enough of this stuff...no brainer...we have to drink more to get rid of the toxins formed(kinda like dilution) from working out and to put on mass.
Fruit and veg...scientists are always trying to codify what gives which vitamins and biochemicals and what has which benefits...waste of time! That is gonna take years!
Look we were designed to eat these things and the more variety of 'em the better..the greater chance of getting all those good biochemical compounds into your system and reaping the benefits. roughage from this stuff is also supposed to keep your digestive tract healthy and prevent colon cancer etc..
So Mix it UP!

Blast....forgot to mention soya beans...highest protein content out of the bean family...so throw a few of these in your salad to bolster protein stocks!
Happy Eating!
